You have probably heard the old saying, "You know you're getting older when....." Lately I feel like this is so true. Today in a matter of 2 hours I learned that 2 of my close friends parents are in the hospital or have visited it for various health issues. In the last year my own parents have fought cancer (mom) as well as had 2 major surgeries (both) It's scary. When I think of them or my IL's for that matter the age of 60+ doesn't register. I don't feel like 60 + is old. I feel like 90+ is but at the same time I feel like father time is knocking on my door saying "Hey, don't forget you are getting older". It seems to be everywhere. In both good and bad situations. For example, I LOVE the song It' Won't Be Like This for Long. It's about how fast kids grow. If you haven't heard it... I HIGHLY recommend it. It makes me cry EVERY time I listen to it. It's a gentle reminder that kids grow so fast. I remember finding out I was pregnant with Jack and that's OVER 3 years ago now. Heck, I remember meeting Joe and that was 17 years ago.
If I could say something to Father Time it would be PLEASE SLOW DOWN.....and while I'm yelling at you... PLEASE KEEP THOSE I LOVE or EVERYONE for that matter HEALTHY.
One thing I'm grateful for is that at my ripe old age of 29 I'm figuring out that the most important thing in my life isn't for my house to be clean or the yard to be mowed... it's making memories.
