Home Sweet Home.... NOT

|
"Welcome to home sweet home from vacation!"
I said as we pulled into the driveway.
We ran inside to go potty and suddenly were hit with a distant but potent smell of rotten vomit. YUM!

We proceed through the house to investigate and it's not the baby diaper champ thingie... nope not the garbage we forgot to take out when we left a week ago....... nope... EVEN BETTER.
It's the watermelon we left on the counter ALL week that rotted and leaked ALL OVER. What do I mean by all over you say? All over the counter top, down between the oven and cupboard on one side and same with the fridge on the other. Here is a picture of us pulling out the oven to see how bad it was. (p.s. no amount of bleach was gonna kill the smell)
Through our pergo floor, through the nasty vinyl floor and plywood that the previous owners left and put the pergo over, and into the sub floor where the limey beastly watermelon sat & molded. DOUBLE YUM.

This is the far shot... but wait... below that is the close up of the ICK

Of course we only got the the above photo at a convenient 10 pm when Menards is closed (mind you I was already there to help replace other stuff it ruined and attempt to kill the smell) and we can't do much but sit and wonder at the utter thought of "why didn't we think the watermelon would rott?"... Or maybe call my mom to stop and toss the silly thing. Nope not us.
We totally spaced it.

All I really want to do right now is blog... about vacation... the kiddos... anything... but I am stealing a mere moment to just vent about this and post a few photo's of the new status quo in our house. I cannot wait to run back to Menards to put an amount on my emergency credit card that I dare not share because I'm too irritated that I even had to use it to help fix this mess. I swear if it take 10 shifts at the Y to pay this off before the interest hits I will do it.

Yes the above is EWWW but right here is more then enough reason to keep smiling and remember that "This too shall pass"
Did I mention.... the little man latched and nursed all week long without problems. No rejection!! Whoop Whoop!!

First of all, your little guy is so sweet. I love his bucket hat!

Second, I'm so sorry about the icky "greeting" that awaited you after being away on vacation. Who knew a watermelon could do so much damage?
