There have been birthdays and I feel the need to acknowledge them because they are some of the most important people in our lives.
Grandma and Grandpa V. both had b-days in the end of Jan. and were lucky enough to have spent them in sunny warm FL as well as some other lovely southern states. To give you any sort of clue how much they were missed, they arrived home on a Wednesday evening and stopped by to pick up some things we were holding for them. At that time Jack was at his dance class and upon seeing their car in our driveway, couldn't contain himself or his excitement at them being here. He bounded up the drive and ran into their arms. They were thrilled. We also had breakfast with them over this past weekend and my little Jack chatted their heads off about pretty much anything and everything. They were GREATLY missed and we are very happy that they are home.
My mom also celebrated her birthday Feb. 3rd. She had a milestone one last year, that was sadly overlooked due to us just having Luke and her chemo treatments. The hope is that since we share a birthday month, we would go to a hotel for a night and celebrate our milestones together. She's truly a bestie of my hubby's and one of the best people I know.
In the past 2 weeks or so we have had some nasty sickies in our house. Luke started with pink eye and now has an ear infection in each ear. Jack has had a persistent cough but thankfully, that's all. Joe went through a mess of a sore throat and body aches last week and ended up missing work because of it which is rare. I have been also feeling tired and generally not the best either.
We also, thanks in part to prayers, calls seeking support and some comment love here and on Facebook, were given last Thursday night and Friday night with both kids sleeping through the whole time. I was VERY excited. Sadly it was short lived, as they then tag teamed us Sat. night and were up collectively 6 times. Yes, I said SIX. The next day the ear infection was discovered and now that we have been on meds for over 24 hrs., we have high hopes for tonight.
I was able to squeeze in some girl time and it was just what the doctor ordered. I had some laughs, shared some secrets, and all in all just got to feel like me for a few hours. Not Mom, not wife, just me :). I am looking forward to getting a second night in this week on Thursday as well.
That's the recap round these parts. I have some pretty neat pictures of me and the ladies on Friday night that I hope to post soon.
For now, Jack is requesting the "Jesus song" remind me to tell you about that little trick that I pulled outa nowhere.
